Mariveles celebrates Coop Month

The Municipality of Mariveles under the leadership of Mayor AJ Concepcion and Vice Mayor Lito Rubia has lined up several activities to celebrate the Cooperative Month this October. This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Cooperatives: Pioneering the Path to Recovery Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Security”.

Councilor Ronald Arcenal, chairman of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Cooperative Development said Mariveles coop month celebration will kick off with a parade on Oct 16 at 8:30 am. A financial literacy and coop taxation seminar will be held on October 17 in Brgy. Poblacion. Arcenal said there will be coastal cleanup on October 18 and 19 in Mattel Beach, AFAB, Barangay Malaya. The next day, the First Laro ng Lahi Municipal Kooplympics will be held the whole day at the beach.

Mariveles joined the recently concluded Bataan Cooperative Day celebration held at Bataan Peoples’ Center. The LGU will also participate in Regional Kooplympics 2023 to be held on October 12 at San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Galing Bataan Awards, the search for most outstanding cooperatives and MSMEs in the province is on October 26 at the Bataan Peoples’ Center Balanga City.

It will be recalled that Arcenal has authored an ordinance creating the Coop Pugay Award giving recognition to outstanding cooperatives in the municipality every two years. Municipal Administrator Tito Catipon said Concepcion and the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Lito Rubia fully backed the development of cooperatives in Mariveles. He lauded the cooperatives for their contribution to the municipality’s economic growth. “Malaking tulong ang mga kooperatiba sa pag-unlad ng ekonomiya ng Bayan ng Mariveles at pagbibigay ng pagkakakitaan sa aming mga kababayan”, said Catipon.
